Dr. Keith Holten

Keith B. Holten, M.D., director

Dr. Holten, a clinical professor at the University of Cincinnati, is the founder of the CMH Family Medicine Residency program. He has been in academic medicine since 1989, after five years in rural private practice. His academic interests include evidence-based medicine at point of care, the procedures of family medicine, treatment of depression and gynecologic care (including family planning and colposcopy). He has been involved in international medical mission work in Honduras and Brazil.

He is currently co-coordinator for a site development for Brazil. He is married to Terry Kerr Holten, M.D., and they have two children, Leah and Bryan. Dr. Holtenís interests outside of medicine include travel, reading, golf, and woodworking. View Dr. Holten’s office hours and contact information.

Dr. Jennifer Bain

Jennifer Bain, M.D.

Dr. Bain joined the faculty of the CMH Family Medicine Residency Program and the practice of the CMH Family Health Center in 1999. In January of 2006, Dr. Bain assumed the role of acting Medical Director of the CMH Family Health Center. In addition to her clinical private practice, Dr. Bain coordinates the maternity care curriculum for the residency program. She observes residents at the health center and supervises them at CMH Community Health Services and at Clinton Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Bain completed her training at Aultmann Hospital in Canton, Ohio, where she was chief resident. She received her medical degree from Ohio State University and her bachelor degree in biology from the University of Cincinnati.

Dr. Janet Gick

Janet Gick, M.D.

After 16 years of rural private practice, Dr. Gick joined the faculty of the CMH Family Medicine Residency Program in 1997. She graduated from Ohio State University in 1975 and from Mt. Carmel’s Family Practice Residency in Columbus, Ohio, in 1978. She worked at Ohio State University’s Student Health Center and the Veterans Administration before moving to Wilmington in 1980.

Dr. Gick has always been interested in working with family practice residents, and she actually served as the clinical coordinator of the University of Cincinnati’s rural medicine rotation to Wilmington from 1982 to 1983. Now that Wilmington has its own residency program, Dr. Gick is very excited about her career change to a full-time faculty physician.

Dr. Gick is married to Thomas Matrka M.D., an orthopedic surgeon, and they have three children. View Dr. Gisk’s office hours and contact information.

Dr. Edward Onusko

Edward Onusko, M.D.

Dr. Onusko joined the CMH Family Medicine Residency Program in April 1997. In January of 2006, Dr. Onusko assumed the role of acting Residency Program Director. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in anesthesia from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) and was certified as a physician assistant in anesthesia in 1977. He attended CWRU School of Medicine, graduating in 1981, then completed a family practice residency at the University Hospitals of Cleveland in 1984. He then moved to Greenfield, a small town in southern Ohio, to fulfill a National Health Service Corps scholarship commitment.

He practiced there for 13 years, including adult medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, first-assisting in general surgery, industrial medicine, administrative duties, and precepting of third and fourth year medical students from the University of Cincinnati. He practiced maternity care for 10 years. He joined the CMH Family Practice Residency Program in April 1997.

Dr. Onusko enjoys traveling and has been to Africa, China, Hong Kong, Japan, India and Europe. He is married to Jenny Morgan, M.D., a family physician and Greenfield native. They have four children.
