2006 Highlights

  • CMH Sleep Care, a comprehensive, outpatient sleep disorders program, began operations at CMH’s River’s Bend Health Center, 87 E. US 22 and SR 3, Maineville.
  • Emergency Services at Clinton Memorial Hospital recently achieved certification to be a continuing education training site for emergency medical services. 
  • Radiology Services added a second, new nuclear medicine camera as well as an i-STAT system which allows blood draws through an IV.
  • Rehabilitation Services stretched into the community with several collaborative programs with Wilmington College and senior citizen centers in Wilmington, New Vienna, Sabina, and Lebanon.
  • An average of 199 volunteers—equivalent to more than 12 fulltime employees—donated nearly 23,500 hours of their time to CMH Regional Health System during 2005, it was reported during Volunteer Month in April.
  • CMH implemented a new patient survey tool. The new survey tool focuses on patients’ perspectives.
  • CMH celebrated its 55th anniversary in October.

2005 Highlights

  • Wound Care Center® opened in the hospital to treat patients with  chronic non-healing wounds.
  • Dr. Choo performed 100th heart procedure in the hospital’s  Low-Risk Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
  • The new SecondLook breast cancer detection system was installed to enable identification of cancer and other life-threatening conditions earlier.
  • CMH started issuing patient friendly billing statements.

2000 to 2004 Highlights

  • The first week of 2004 at CMH began with a move into the new Intensive Care unit and the opening of the new Women’s Diagnostic Center off the atrium.
  • The patient tower and related renovations were completed by October 2004
  • In December 2003 a record number of more than 3,300 patients visit Emergency Services.
  • In 2000 CMH begins $35 million building and renovation project at hospital campus.

1990s Highlights

  • The Center for Healthcare Industry Performance Studies ranks Clinton Memorial Hospital as a top-performing hospital in Ohio and in the nation.
  • CMH East Clinton Medical Services opens in 1998.
  • In 1990 the hospital begins $1.8 million renovation and relocation of surgical services.

1980s Highlights

  • In 1989 the hospital initiates $1.5 million capital campaign to renovate surgical services.
  • Renovation is completed in 1984 on the obstetrical unit to keep up with current trends and practices.
  • Agreement is signed in 1981 with the U.S. Department of Defense to be a civilian-military contingency hospital in case of war.

1970s Highlights

  • Helicopter transfer for emergency patients is initiated in 1979.
  • In 1978 James Amos is named fourth administrator. In 1976 the operating budget exceeds $4 million.
  • Hospital and community launch $325,000 memorial fund drive in 1971 for hospital improvements.

1960s Highlights

  • In 1969 the hospital is remodeled and the west wing is completed, and the bed capacity becomes 147.
  • Ralph Mead is named third administrator in 1968, George West is named second administrator in 1966 and the hospital budget exceeds $1 million.
  • In 1965 the first open-heart massage is performed at CMH. Guild then donates cardiac defibrillator.

1950s Highlights

  • 1957 is the busiest year since Clinton Memorial Hospital opened, and the budget exceeds $500,000.
  • In 1951 a new 64-bed, $950,000 "cathedral to healing" is dedicated on Sept. 21, and 3,000 attend the open house. Dr. H.R. Bath is elected the hospital’s first chief of staff, and CMH’s first baby, Vicki Priest, is born on October 4.
  • Operating board appointed and Elsie Delin is named first administrator in 1950.

1940s Highlights

  • In 1949 the hospital groundbreaking occurs.
  • Twelve acres of land are purchased on West Main Street for hospital in 1947.
  • In 1945 Clinton County citizens form a committee to promote the construction of Clinton Memorial Hospital.
